Our Organization

Faith-Based Service Since 1946

Brightspire is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization serving 2000 plus residents across North Carolina through its three owned Life Plan Communities, two managed Life Plan Communities, and one affordable housing apartment community. Brightspire began as The Presbyterian Homes, Inc. and was formed in 1946 to find a community for seniors focused on faith, everyday wellness, and empowered, fulfilling lifestyles. In 1952, The Presbyterian Home of High Point opened in High Point, North Carolina. Born out of the Presbyterian Church, it was the second such community in North Carolina and the first to receive accreditation.

Scotia Village, located in Laurinburg, North Carolina, opened in 1988. The community became widely recognized for its beautiful natural landscape and exceptional service and quickly became the retirement community of choice in the region.

Glenaire, found in Cary, NC, opened in 1993 as the first faith-based senior community in the Raleigh/Cary area. Glenaire enjoys a lush campus with the convenience of an urban setting located just minutes from charming Downtown Cary.

River Landing at Sandy Ridge, located in the heart of the Triad area (Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point, North Carolina), opened in 2003. River Landing is an amenity-rich community with a welcoming, warm, and friendly culture that draws people from all over the country. The community is known for its highly-regarded regulation nine-hole golf course and walking trails.

In 2016, Brightspire began providing management and development services for Friends Homes and its two Life Plan Communities, Friends Homes Guilford, and Friends Homes West, located in Greensboro, NC.

In 2016, Brightspire extended our mission into affordable housing for seniors by partnering to support Capital Towers, a 298-unit housing community in Raleigh, NC.

In 2022 we announced our transition to Brightspire, to ensure the future success of our mission: to honor God by enriching the lives and touching the hearts of those we serve. We look forward to a bright future with you!

Wellness

Wellness is much more than just your physical health. Brightspire’s Wellness Philosophy includes programs in 8 categories of everyday wellness including physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, nutritional, environmental, safety, and community outreach experiences.

Sustainability

Brightspire is a foundation of North Carolina and won’t be leaving anytime soon. As a non-profit providing continuing care, we know the sustainability of our communities is important to you and your families. We maintain financial viability with our commitment to sound business practices and a focus on environmental innovation.

Community

Our communities aren’t just a place to live, they’re a place to enjoy life. Amazing amenities, beautiful grounds, and exciting events are just a few reasons why Brightspire communities are so special. The main reason is our vibrant residents and their passion for community outreach and faithful stewardship. Our communities thrive and feel more like family thanks to our incredible, compassionate residents.

The Brightspire Care Philosophy

Brightspire applies historically successful, common-sense approaches to caring for residents with a permanent basis of mutual respect. Because of this foundation, we've created long-term care communities where residents choose to live their lives with staff–staff who enjoy assisting them and care for them like family! We call this Person-Centered Care.

Person-Centered Care transforms the institutional approach to care delivery into one that is person-directed. We've reorganized the traditional nursing home and the way things typically work; we've created a home. Our culture is one of community, where each person’s capabilities and individuality are affirmed and celebrated, for both our residents and employees alike.

Quality of care and quality of life are inseparable and equally important when you live in a Brightspire home.

Our Mission & Vision

In carrying out its mission and vision, Brightspire and its communities value:
